Distinguished pieces is the generic title La Ribot gave in 1993 to a series of short choreographic pieces that she has since then numbered, accumulated, and grouped into series, while presenting them in theatres and museums in the form of performances or shows.

With this work, La Ribot projects herself through time, fragmenting her aesthetic, political, and artistic discourse into 100 distinguished pieces, which she intended to create over the course of her lifetime. As of 2026, there are 60 distinguished pieces, grouped into 7 series or performances, amounting to approximately nine hours if presented one after another. From the precarious solo distinguished pieces of the first ten years, to the more recent pieces incorporating other performers and elements, La Ribot has continued to expand the very concept of the distinguished pieces since 1993, extending it to include video and installation while always preserving—with a few exceptions—the essence of the project: the short piece and live performance.

After 34 years La Ribot closes definitively the cycle with piece number 60 and creates a unique and final meta-performance that will bring together all 60 Distinguished pieces for the first time.

Resolución – 60 Piezas distinguidas (2027) will be presented on four occasions in spring 2027, during La Ribot’s solo exhibition at the Museo Reina Sofía in Madrid. In the summer of the same year the meta-performance will also be presented in Geneva as part of the Festival de La Bâtie, in collaboration with the Comédie de Genève and ADC.
