Juanita Pelotari, 2001, is a playful early experiment with hand-held video, made by La Ribot in the same year as the video installation Despliegue.
Using a video camera in place of her hand, she bounces a brightly coloured child’s ball decorated with ladybirds on the floor. Glimpses of the artist’s jazzy leopard-skin footwear add to the visual cocktail. In the edit, the footage has been slowed down, cut and morphed in various ways to produce a sensuous, colourful abstraction.
